The Hidden Juggle: Work, Parenting and Neurodiversity
Hosted by the Parents & Carers and the Disability & Neurodiversity Committees, this event brings together parents, experts and employers to explore the realities of balancing work while supporting a neurodivergent child.
The session will explore the challenges families face, the complexity of navigating support and diagnosis, and the role workplaces can play in making that journey more manageable. Speakers will share professional insight, lived experience and examples of employer practice that genuinely support working parents.
Attendees will leave with practical signposting, increased confidence in navigating next steps, and the opportunity to connect with others in a similar position.
About the Speakers:
My commitment to authentic intersectional innovation in education, work and skills on “Bee Neuroinclusive” in Greater Manchester now has both a national and global reach. I am an unapologetic, empowered Autistic leader in public services in the UK. I have 30 years’ service in local government, early years, homelessness, domestic abuse, social care, commissioning and schools.
I am currently an Executive Director of Leadership and Governance at a specialist multi-academy trust where vast numbers of children are neurodivergent and teaching and support staff are out about their neurodivergence at work.
My openly neurodivergent leadership has been recognised by the World Economic Forum Neurodiversity Summit in Davos in 2026 and by UNESCO/ International Federation of Inclusive Practitioners Global Inclusion Awards in both 2024 and 2025: acknowledging my impact in creating inclusive education, work and skills policies and practices.
