Most senior leadership teams do not struggle because their members lack capability. The challenge is that growth, pressure and organisational complexity can expose gaps in alignment, accountability, communication and decision-making.

As operational demands intensify, leadership teams can become dominated by functional priorities and day-to-day firefighting. The result is often siloed working, duplicated effort, mixed messages and slower execution, just when the organisation most needs clarity and collective leadership.

In this focused, interactive session, Westminster Associates will explore what enables a group of talented senior individuals to operate as a connected, strategically aligned and accountable leadership team.

Combining practical insight, guided reflection and peer discussion, the session will introduce some of the most common barriers to executive effectiveness. Participants will consider how clearly their own senior teams align around collective purpose, make decisions, hold one another accountable and translate strategy consistently across the organisation.

This is not a traditional team-building session or a theoretical exploration of leadership. It is a commercially grounded introduction designed to prompt honest reflection and provide senior leaders with practical ideas they can take back into their organisations.

The session will explore
• Why highly capable senior teams can still struggle to operate effectively together
• How functional priorities, unclear accountability and decision bottlenecks affect performance
• What distinguishes a collection of senior individuals from a genuine leadership team
• The role of purpose, trust and constructive challenge in creating stronger alignment
• Practical actions leaders can take to improve collective effectiveness.

Participants will leave with
• A clearer understanding of the factors that influence leadership team effectiveness
• A practical lens through which to assess their own senior team
• Greater awareness of potential silos, tensions and gaps in collective accountability
• One or two practical actions to strengthen clarity, alignment and impact

Who should attend?
This session is designed for chief executives, directors, executive team members and other senior leaders who want their leadership
teams to operate with greater clarity, alignment and impact - particularly while navigating growth, change or organisational complexity.

Paul Thompson Managing Director - Westminster Associates

Paul partners with Boards, founders and senior leadership teams to create the clarity, alignment and honest conversations that underpin sustainable performance. With more than three decades of global experience, he has worked alongside more than 300 organisations across 20 countries, supporting leaders at pivotal moments including growth, investment, buyouts, founder transitions and cultural reset.

His style is pragmatic, commercially grounded and calmly direct. Paul brings a sharp strategic lens, a strong instinct
for organisational dynamics and the confidence to ask the questions others often avoid.

He is known for immersing himself quickly in the reality of a business, cutting through noise and helping leaders
translate insight into practical action.

Beyond client work, Paul actively supports a number of regional initiatives and community causes including Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Trust, The Hive Wirral Youth Zone, Shelter Northwest and the LGBTQ Northwest Business Awards.

He also serves as a Community First Responder for the Northwest Ambulance Service, responding to cardiac arrest and heart attack call outs, which certainly keeps leadership challenges in perspective.

Jack Collins Director - Westminster Associates

Jack partners with senior leaders to create the clarity, alignment and honest dialogue that underpin high performance. He works with executive teams and emerging leaders to strengthen trust, accountability and collective effectiveness, helping them move from good
intentions to consistent behaviour in practice.

With a background in legal services, Jack developed a strong commercial perspective and the ability to weigh competing viewpoints in complex and high-pressure environments. That experience shapes the way he works today, bringing a calm, balanced approach to conversations that require both objectivity and challenge.

His style is grounded, thoughtful and quietly direct. Jack listens carefully, asks considered questions and ensures that every voice in the room is heard, while keeping discussions anchored to what matters most for the organisation. He helps teams look beyond surface level awareness and focus on the behaviours that genuinely influence how people work together.

Colleagues and clients value his ability to create the conditions for honest discussion and practical progress.
By combining insight with clear action, he helps leaders translate reflection into meaningful change across their teams and organisations.
