In this practical half-day webinar, Cath will share public speaking techniques drawn from 15 years’ courtroom advocacy experience, helping participants speak with greater confidence, clarity and impact.

Participants will learn how to build a persuasive “case” for their message, open with authority, use evidence and examples effectively, and keep an audience engaged. The session will explore how voice, pace, pause, posture and presence can strengthen credibility, as well as simple tools to manage nerves and stay composed under pressure.

Through short exercises, reflection and supportive practice, attendees will apply these skills to everyday professional situations, from client meetings and internal updates to pitches and presentations. They will leave with practical courtroom-inspired techniques they can use immediately to communicate clearly, respond to questions with confidence, and present ideas with authority.

Cath will draw on courtroom advocacy techniques, including building a persuasive case, opening with authority, using evidence and examples effectively, handling questions under pressure, and delivering with confidence. Participants will practise applying these tools to professional presentations, meetings and pitches – whichever is most relevant for them - with opportunities for feedback and personal reflection.

About the Speakers:

Catherine Brown Founder & Coach - Skilful Conversation

Catherine Brown practised as a barrister for 15 years at Kings Chambers in Manchester, and brings all of that advocacy experience with her into her coaching and training business, Skilful Conversation Limited, www.skilfulconversation.com.

Since leaving the bar, Catherine has worked globally as a trainer and coach, founding her company in 2018.

As a coach, she deploys her courtroom skills to delve beneath the surface and identify what is perhaps not being said, or any incongruity between what is being said and what has been done. She is passionate about empowering senior professionals to achieve their full potential and the impact of the coaching techniques she uses with them.

She has also distilled her vast experience from the courtroom and negotiations into a workshop on Managing Difficult Conversations, helping people break through barriers which are stopping them asking for what they want, or those who are struggling to communicate effectively.
