What to expect

In this interactive workshop, Cath will introduce a range of practical coaching techniques designed to help you hold effective coaching conversations within your organisation. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practise these techniques in pairs and small groups, with a strong emphasis on developing your listening skills.

Unlock Better Communication

These coaching approaches enable team members to communicate more openly and effectively. They help surface ideas that might otherwise go unspoken and support individuals in overcoming barriers that may be holding back progress.

Strengthen Conversations with Stakeholders

By building awareness of different questioning styles—and understanding the power of silence—you’ll enhance your ability to engage with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. These skills can lead to more meaningful and productive conversations across all areas of your work.

Learn Proven Coaching Models

You will gain understanding of established coaching frameworks, including:

  • The GROW Model
  • Appreciative Inquiry
  • Thinking Partnerships

You’ll also explore effective questioning techniques, such as open and closed questions, alongside Gordon’s Active Listening Model.

Apply Coaching to Yourself and Others

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand a range of coaching and communication techniques
  • Apply these techniques to coach others and improve team and meeting dynamics
  • Use coaching approaches to support your own goal-setting and personal development
  • Enhance your listening skills, with a clear plan to continue developing them

What past attendees have said:

“Both my colleague and I have used principles from  Cath's training this week and loved it. It really helped when composing a difficult email and made me feel really confident in what I was saying, so thank you.”

“Cath is so calming no matter what the subject, I come away feeling like I’ve had a massage!  I would highly recommend getting involved”

About the Speakers:

Catherine Brown Founder & Coach - Skilful Conversation

Catherine Brown practised as a barrister for 15 years at Kings Chambers in Manchester, and brings all of that advocacy experience with her into her coaching and training business, Skilful Conversation Limited, www.skilfulconversation.com.

Since leaving the bar, Catherine has worked globally as a trainer and coach, founding her company in 2018.

As a coach, she deploys her courtroom skills to delve beneath the surface and identify what is perhaps not being said, or any incongruity between what is being said and what has been done. She is passionate about empowering senior professionals to achieve their full potential and the impact of the coaching techniques she uses with them.

She has also distilled her vast experience from the courtroom and negotiations into a workshop on Managing Difficult Conversations, helping people break through barriers which are stopping them asking for what they want, or those who are struggling to communicate effectively.
