The Booth Centre: Connecting Through Activities

14th July 2020, 7:25 am

This month The Booth Centre wanted to share how they have been keeping people connected through lockdown and what their reopened service looks like.

At 11am Monday – Friday for 48 long lockdown days we were live in the Connecting Through Activities Facebook group.

We sang, we exercised, we thought, we were creative, we cooked… we were together. Watch Connecting Through Activities now…  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t60atajOgCw

We’ve been working with over 500 people to maintain their accommodation, prevent homelessness and make positive next steps. Our art packs, weekly activity packs, daily Facebook live activity session, daily text messages and support calls have provided a successful package of support for people who are homeless in Greater Manchester.

Activities are an integral part of the support we offer at the Booth Centre by providing structure, routine, goals and opportunities to demonstrate talent we are able to work with people to overcome the practical difficulties they are facing. Our successful supported volunteering programme remained through lockdown and will continue to offer people who are homeless the opportunity to gain experience, skills and mentoring. More information can be read on our news page.

To enable us to adhere to social distancing and track and trace we are asking people to register. This can be done Monday-Friday 9-10am from the Booth Centre garden, alongside signposting support. Or by phoning 0161 835 2499.

As we are creating a new normal we wanted to once again thank you all for the support we received during lockdown, in every sense it kept us going. We realise a lot of people and charities need help right now and that isn’t going to change, if you can please think of the Booth Centre & make a donation via the link below.

On the 2nd September pro-manchester & The Booth Centre will be running a webinar where you can hear how the Booth Centre and other agencies responded to the ‘Everyone In’ government directive during the coronavirus pandemic, and despite a full lockdown were still able to support people that were – and still are – homeless in our city.

You can learn how the Booth Centre has redesigned its services to ensure that it is fit for purpose post lockdown, whilst also compliant with the ever-changing government guidelines.

We will be challenging some of the myths around homelessness and related issues and you will be able to ask questions, share concerns and find out how you and or your company can support the Booth Centre in it’s vital work.  Book via the link below.
