From Shared Purpose to System Impact: What’s next for Social Mobility in Manchester?
Building on the May event, which demonstrated that Greater Manchester already benefits from a wide range of impactful social mobility initiatives delivered by businesses, education providers, community organisations and public sector partners this event will explore what's next.
The opportunity now is to move beyond individual activity and explore how stronger collaboration, coordination and shared commitments can amplify collective impact, reduce duplication and create more sustainable pathways into employment. This session will focus on what organisations can do both individually and together to build a long-term, connected system that improves access to employment, progression and economic participation across Greater Manchester.
Discussions will focus on:
- How can we better connect employers, educators and communities to create clearer routes into employment?
- Making opportunities more accessible through inclusive recruitment, work readiness and wider representation.
- What does it take to help people not only enter employment, but thrive and progress?
- Enabling SMEs to contribute through partnerships, shared resources and practical support.
- Turning ideas into action: agreeing collective commitments for May 2027 and beyond.
This session is open to anyone interested in social mobility. Recent attendees have included corporates, charities, civic society and advisory firms.
The panel discussion will be followed by interactive breakout conversations, giving attendees the opportunity to share perspectives, reflect on the issues raised, and continue the dialogue in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment.
