Join us on a bicycle journey throughout the city and see the latest and greatest transport and infrastructure projects that have been completed since the return to the city from lockdown. Brought to you by pro-manchester’s Transport & Infrastructure Committee, the Tour De pro-manchester, partnered with TGfM’s Active Travel campaign and Bee Net Zero, will take you through a central city loop beginning at Deansgate Station passing Royce Road, Oxford Street, Thomas Street, down to Victoria Street and finishing in Spinningfields for some well-deserved refreshments.

Our wonderful cycle guide Florian Langstraat has designed the route to ensure we can travel safely around the city while seeing some major transport and infrastructure projects both completed and in the works. Using the Bee Hire Bikes, this is a wonderful opportunity to see how hundreds of thousands of Greater Manchester residences and workers can use an affordable, convenient and sustainable way to get around the city.

Transport for Greater Manchester, in partnership with Manchester City Council, Salford City Council and Trafford Council, has launched Greater Manchester's first publicly operated, self-service, 24/7 cycle hire scheme. Participants must have the bike-share app Beryl to participate in the event. Beryl is a nationwide UK bike-share scheme with the widest range of e-bikes and e-scooters. You’ll only have to create an account once, it’s so easy it’s a bit like riding a bike.

Attendees will not need to pay for the use of Beryl bikes and is being covered by our partner Transport for Greater Manchester.

Attendees will be required to BYO helmets. If you are needing to purchase a helmet, please contact [email protected].

Please note, due to safety regulations and the capacity of attendees allowed, a limit of 15 people can attend this event and only one per member firm to ensure maximum opportunity for networking. Also due to the nature of this event it will be subject to additional terms and conditions. Further information and details of the bike-share app will be sent upon booking.

Florian is a Principal Transport Planner at Mott MacDonald, and is currently working with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to complete a comprehensive review and audit of Greater Manchester’s proposed Active Bee Network – a key commitment of the refreshed Active Travel Mission set out last year by Greater Manchester’s Active Travel Commissioner, Dame Sarah Storey. Born and raised in the Netherlands, but having worked in the UK and in Australia, Florian has worked with all possible types of cycle lanes, tracks, signals, crossings, signs and all the rest – and will show you the very latest Manchester has to offer.
