About the Speakers:
James specialises in resolving construction and engineering disputes. The team advises on all stages from procurement to the completion of projects, with a unique offering combining an English and Spanish specialism in construction and engineering law. We have a particular focus on energy and infrastructure projects.
Recently James and the team were engaged by a large Spanish based EPC contractor to assist with full legal support in relation to all and any issues arising out of the construction of the new CCGT power station in Carrington, just outside Manchester.
James and the team are also currently acting for other large Spanish contractors in other jurisdictions and continue to represent UK based developers, funders, contractors and subcontractors in respect of a variety of construction and engineering projects in the UK and abroad.
Ed is a partner in the Corporate department. Described as “Reliable, accurate, efficient and prompt… a pleasure to work with” by a current client, Ed’s specialisms include mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, buy-outs, joint ventures, corporate structuring and alternative fundraising structures.
He has a number of clients in the financial services, IT, renewable energy and healthcare sectors, and also acts on mergers and acquisitions of advisory and professional practices.
Ed has a particular specialism in financial services and advises in connection with consumer credit legislation and the Financial Services and Markets Act.
Ed joined Clarke Willmott in July 2012 from corporate boutique Lockett Loveday McMahon.
Anna is a Partner in the firm’s Employment and HR team. Anna supports employers with all aspects of employee relations and employment law issues, including contractual matters, disciplinaries and grievances, strategic exits, restructuring, Employment Tribunal litigation, and employment issues arising in corporate transactions. Anna is an expert on TUPE and outsourcing and has worked on matters such as the largest outsourcing from the public sector to the private sector.
Anna is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She is a trustee of a local prevention of homelessness charity as well as a school governor.
Ed is a Partner in Clarke Willmott’s London Commercial Property team. He advises on portfolio and single asset management including landlord and tenant issues, development funding, corporate support work and investment acquisitions and disposals.
During his career, Ed has represented institutional investors and funds, privately owned UK and overseas property investment and development companies and asset managers.
Before joining Clarke Willmott in 2018 Ed worked at Forsters LLP and Macfarlanes LLP.
Chris’ expertise covers a broad range of both personal and corporate insolvency on a contentious and non-contentious basis. Chris advises banks and other financiers, insolvency practitioners, directors and stakeholders as well as creditors on all issues arising in stressed and distressed scenarios.
Chris’ particular proficiency relates to contentious insolvency, advising in relation to appointment, complex antecedent transactions and procedural applications made pursuant to the Insolvency Act 1986. Chris’ specific focus is on substantial and highly technical claims brought by insolvency practitioners, often involving fraud and complex multi-jurisdictional recovery options.
John is a Partner in the commercial & private client litigation team specialising in complex high profile commercial litigation disputes in particular director, shareholder and partnership disputes; professional advisor claims; defamation; contractual disputes, injunctions and asset recovery.
John’s expertise includes working with Owners, Directors and Shareholders of PLCs, medium and small businesses and major Financial Institutions across retail, banking and finance, renewable energy, sport and technology sectors.
John joined Clarke Willmott in 2016 after working at Ford and Warren (now Weightmans LLP) Leeds from 1996 – 2014 (becoming a Partner in 2000) and Linder Myers LLP Manchester from 2014 – 2016.
John is a member of the Institute of Directors, Professional Negligence Lawyers Association, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Pro-Manchester.
